Maggie Vaults Over Grant Overstake
I had some vague expectations when I picked up Maggie Vaults Over The Moon. Not being a huge sports fan in general, I was hesitant to read a book about vaulting, but the positive reviews won me over. I'm glad they did. There is so much more to Maggie than I ever imagined.
From the very beginning, she brings us into one of the hardest and most painful moments of her life. Having experienced a great deal of loss at an early age myself, I was easily able to relate to her pain and the anger that followed. As the story continues, Maggie shares her emotional journey with us, leading us down a path of self-doubt, frustration and the unfairness of it all before taking a sudden turn that not only reassures us that everything has a way of working its way out in the end, but also inspires us to reach higher and push further than we ever thought possible.
I can certainly see how young athletes might be drawn to Maggie, but that doesn't mean you have to be athletic or even like sports, to fall in love with Maggie.
As the father of another pole vaulter who lost a close reletive (her mother) at 10 years old and went onto be on the USA 2012 Olympic Team, my daughter and I identify with this story. My daughter lived her version. Yes, my daughter felt her mother's presence along the way, as Maggie did her brother. Easy and fun read; touching at times.

Loved this book! Especially inspiring for atheletes of all ages. Enjoyed all the charectors, the grandma was my favorite. The book reminds me of a simplier time that is missing for most of us.

Overstake takes you on an inspirational journey with Maggie as she faces some pretty difficult obstacles in her young life, many we've all faced growing up. It's a heartwarming story of how Maggie triumphs over tragedy, and perseveres through adversity, as achieves heights both literal and figurative, she thought never existed. This is a magical story written through the eyes of a teen. Cheers, Grant Overstake for bringing Maggie to life!

Through Maggie's grief and love of family she finds a way to overcome it all, in a sport that took her way out of her comfort zone and flew her over the moon toward her dreams. A must read by all.

This book shines a positive light on a sport that many people have been too scared to try or understand. The pole vault community is one of the most welcoming and supportive of any sport I know. Maggie Vaults Over the Moon is an emotional and educational read that people can find a connection with, no matter their age. It is a beautiful story that is also very informative and accurate about the sport. It makes you remember your dreams and inspires you to believe in anything. I absolutely adore this book.
