Afterwife Polly Williams
I received a copy of AFTERWIFE by Polly Williams in exchange for an honest review.
Sophie Brady is just one of those gals - funny, gorgeous, strong-willed, loyal and loving - and continues to be one after she dies. One tragic traffic accident cuts Sophie's life short and she finds herself attending her own funeral. While there, she watches the reactions of those she holds closest to her heart. She worries most about her husband and their young son. She watches over them closely and although she loves him and wishes that she could have continued to be there for him, she knows that he must find love again and move on. So, she takes on the task and intervenes. Only, it appears that she is not the only one who is looking out for Ollie. Her best friend Jenny is doing so as well, only a big secret comes about that leaves Sophie wondering how well she knew her friend.
This book is an absolute knock out. It is funny, charming, witty, heart-warming, thoughtful, and most importantly, one-of-a-kind. When I first received a review request for this book, I immediately thought it sounded unique and probably unlike anything that I have ever read before, and I was right. This book has tons of heart but is also surprisingly honest. I loved every second of it and found myself constantly wondering what I would do if I found myself in Sophie's shoes. I have to admit that she was rather generous in wanting her husband to find love and although I know that I wouldn't want to, I would probably do the same. Overall, like I said, a complete knock out. I loved every second!

BalasHapusThis is the story of Sophie, a young wife and mother, who has just died. She tells her story while she looks down on family and friends,in particular, her young son Freddie and her lovely and handsome husband, Ollie. She is also looking over her close as a sister friend, Jenny.
BalasHapusSophie's family and friends are all heartbroken. Her husband and little son are almost unable to cope. Jenny, her best friend from university days, struggles with her best friend's death since she was with her at the moment of death and has horrible guilt resulting from that. Jenny is called upon to take care of little Freddie and also begins to help Ollie deal with the death of his beautiful wife as well. Sophie had a group of young mothers with whom she was friendly that Jenny had never met who also are grieving from the loss of one of their members. Jenny begins to meet with these women to try to help Freddie and Ollie move through their grief.
This is a humorous but also heartbreaking story that will bring tears to your eyes as Sophie watches over family, friend and foes. I could not put this down and I had tears welling up many times. Beautifully written and so very moving. I loved it!
