I really enjoyed reading Wishing for a Highlander. It was the first time travel book i read in awhile. I loved how it was full of magic and action as well romance. The plot was well written and kept me on the edge of my seat with what was going on. The character were believable, and very interesting. Hero and Heroine were very well round characters and did not seem one dimensional. I loved the back story, it made it easier to see and understand why the character were the way they are. After reading this i really hope Jessi Gage writes more of this genre.

I don't delve into historical romance as much as other sub-genres (e.g. paranormal), but this one blew me away!
BalasHapusI adore unconventional heroes and heroines, and you can't get much more unconventional than a pregnant heroine - as in pregnant by another man when she meets her hero, who happens to be a hotter-than-July Scottish warrior from another time! Jessi Gage makes it work beautifully, though, with a clever and fast-paced plot mixed with emotionally authentic romance that balances steam with tenderness. The gorgeous setting and taste of magic round out this delightful read. Definitely recommend.
I loved the premise for this book. It's original. A page turner. I couldn't put it down. I was really good from beginning to end.
BalasHapusI truly enjoyed this story. It was well written and had some unique aspects you don't normally see in a romance. The heroine was pregnant and the absolutely fabulous hero was chivalrous, sexy, honorable, loving, and a virgin. Jessi Gage made it all work and left me eager for her next novel.
BalasHapusAll of the main characters were fairly well fleshed out and made the story well rounded and richer, with the addition of some mysterious characters and events bringing dimension (and hopefully setting the stage for future delightful stories from this author). I was completely immersed in the story and finished it reluctant to say goodbye to the characters.
Very important for my enjoyment was the fact that the book was fairly well edited. There were very few errors, and certainly not enough to distract from the story as is the case with so many other Kindle books. Thank you editor and author for maintaining the integrity I love in a well written book.
(Hint, hint, Ms Gage) I would love to see Constance and Wilhelm's story in the future as well.

This is my favorite highlander romance. It's about a pregnant museum worker, Melanie, who, when working with an artifact from medieval Scotland, accidentally triggers its magic and travels back in time, into the midst of a clan battle, where she meets the hero, a Keith warrior named Darcy.
BalasHapus"Big Darcy" is a fabulous hero. He's honorable and compassionate and protective, very alpha in some respects but in other respects rather vulnerable. An early and devastating rejection left him insecure about his ability to please a woman, so it's up to Melanie--also a little insecure, since she's also dealt with rejection in her past--to draw him out of his shell sexually.
I especially enjoyed the humor in the first half of this novel, and in the second half, the sexual awakening that 21st-century Melanie brings to her gentle Scottish warrior.
Pregnant and alone, Melanie's quiet, orderly life is about to change. As a museum curator, she spends her days working with items hundreds of years old. She's intrigued by a box with a 1500's date stamp on the bottom. She makes a wish, and she's instantly transported to medieval Scotland.
BalasHapusMelanie's modern-day life is no help as she deals with life before smart phones and medical advances. She longs to return home, but the more time she spends with Big Darcy, the man who protects and cares for her, the more she wonders if she and her baby should remain with him.
Darcy is the man most women dream of. His size and strength disguise his tender heart. Honor commands he help his Melanie to return to her people, despite the fact he's fallen in love with her.
Darcy and Melanie's story is funny, touching, and unforgettable. I loved this book, and you will, too.
I was madly in love with all the characters. It's all consuming and im so glad amazon suggested to me!! I highly suggest this book. Try the sample and it will suck you in no doubt:) and keep you coming back for more!
BalasHapusFirst off, I love this book! Ms. Gage made me feel as though I had been tossed back in time right along with the heroine.
BalasHapusThe descriptions and characters in this book were amazingly written, and I found that Ms. Gage's decision to send a pregnant, unmarried woman from the 21st Century back to 16th Century Scotland genius. Not only was it keeping to true to our era, but it gave the heroine a whole other set of problems to work through.
I was able to easily relate to Melanie from the very beginning. Though she felt rejected by Darcy, she never gave up and trusted on her intuitive nature to see past the visible, and delve deeper into Darcy's issues, and his heart.
I was up in the air from the beginning of this book, trying to figure out if the future Laird of Ackergill was a Beta or an Alpha male, as he was just the total package when it comes to sexy highlanders! The man has no flaws. It will be near impossible for any reader to, not fall in love with Darcy!
The hero's lack of sexual experience, and Melanie's raging pregnancy hormones set up the perfect situation for over the top sexual tension between the couple. Unlike other romances, Ms. Gage turned the tables on this one, giving the heroine the power to teach her lover the finer points of ecstasy. The scenes were perfectly sensual, and just down right sexy, to watch as new found intimacy blossomed between the couple.
If you loved reading Veronica Wolff's or Melissa Mayhue's Scottish time travels, than Wishing For A Highlander by Jessie Gage should not be missed. It was an outstanding read, and I'm extremely optimistic, that we will be hearing a lot more from Ms. Gage! Even though it's only January, I have to say there is a very strong chance that Jessi will be my favorite new author for 2013!!!
