10276 Two Months Unlikely Facebook
After years of living a dormant life, the protagonist Lim Shi Yi comes to life with her new love Mark Fallen who resides half a world away. The two develop a friendly relationship via Facebook that quickly blossoms into a passionate love affair. But, life becomes complicated for Lim as she tries to deal with new love and a soured marriage that has trapped her for years.
Anyone who has found love and been away from that love for an extended period of time will understand the pain and joy of a long-distance relationship so richly detailed in this book. The plot is compelling and the story is beautifully written.
Ang's voice is unique and her prose is rich, poetic and visually striking. At times you feel like you are being transported to another world as in the excerpt below from her protagonist's poem:
"Don't worry about being late for the wedding is a dance in the night's sky. Yes, in an abyss of blue we will dance away the blues. I will don a gown of red hue and veil so long, it will hide my shoes. Bring your musical instruments and look your best. Please tell the rest. Shoes are not important for we will be playing music so pretty the angels will carry us into sky of blue."
10276 in Two Months will take you on an irresistibly journey of two soul mates that is full of passion, love and loss. This is a must read you will find hard to put down.
"10276 in Two Months" is the story about a man and a woman who meet on Facebook and are instantly drawn to each other from the first word they exchange, despite the thousands of miles between them. Mark is a screenwriter from London, Lim Shi a poet and novelist from Singapure. What follows is one of the most touching love stories I have ever read. The author manages to identify so thoroughly with her two protagonists that you, as a reader, have the impression of feeling everything they feel: You feel like crying when they cry and you are happy, desperate or angry when they are. There are many twists and turns in the plot which keep you wondering how the story would actually end. So once you start reading this book, you won't be able to put it down anymore. The story is poetically written, the writing style unique and lyrical with beautiful prose. An absolute must-read!!!
BalasHapusA modern romance- 2 fall in love on Facebook. This is an enjoyable book- easy and fast to read. You will want to keep reading late into the night wondering how it will finally turn up for the unlikely pair. Interesting turns, such as a parallel story, keep you thinking and questioning. I recommend this book to adult readers who'd like a new-age romance, enjoy poetry and want a book that's difficult to put down.
BalasHapus10276 in Two Months: A Novel: An Unlikely Facebook Love is a "love story" on several different levels. Giok Ping Ang's gift for the poetic shines in this unique story of two soul mates whose love develops through Internet messages to each other. It takes the reader from the first suggestions of a special bond in "conversations" about the craft of writing to the sensual and aching desires each character develops for the other. It beautifully portrays the plight of the middle age woman who feels lonely and unfulfilled emotionally as she watches herself age. Her gentleman friend, worlds away, woos her with words she has longed to hear and nudges her into a deeper and deeper commitment to him fueled by his own passion and her need for loving attention.
BalasHapusA second compelling story line threads throughout the book and creates a mirror through which the primary story is reflected. The author cleverly hooks the reader with both stories and characters who are very sympathetic. The reader will want to keep reading to see what happens next and will be surprised at some of the plot's intricacies and unexpected curves.
The author showcases some of her award winning poetry in the book although the entire book is in and of itself, very lyrically written. She deals with the hard questions about the nature of love, the question of the existence of a soul mate, whether unconditional love is even possible as well as how the development of a sort of ethereal love happens and how it plays out in the actuality of two very far apart lives and circumstances.
Giok Ping Ang masterfully draws the reader into the story and into the lives of her characters. She skillfully allows the reader to feel the intense feelings that are a large part of this story. Any more would spoil the enjoyment of this book. I highly recommend it. Much of its creativity is derived from the idea of a relationship based on messages sent in a virtual reality.
This is a plain and simple love story between two people that met on Facebook. The woman is married with 2 daughters , while her cyberspace lover is divorced and without a partner. Both are writers that share the intensity of word on paper. Poetry is exchanged between both of them and their online relationship heats up to a frenzy. Paralleling this, is a screenplay that Lim Shi Yi is writing about, a character that is likened to herself. This story tugs and pulls on your heartstrings. As the relationship becomes more heated in words, her cyberspace lover becomes more demanding on their meeting each other even though they are 2 continents apart. I don't want to say much more than this because it will give away the story and I want the reader to lavish in the excitement for themselves. Enjoy, and all I can say its a must read with todays technology
BalasHapusI enjoyed reading 10276 so much that I read it any spare moment I had, and ended up finishing it in a day and a half. What kept me interested was the story and the subplot. The characters were also interesting and I liked getting to know them. I highly recommend this book for a break from our everyday lives.
BalasHapus10276 in Two Months is a story about very strong love and connection between two lonely writers who reside in two different parts of the world but share many similar passions.
BalasHapusI was drawn into the emotional journey between the two main characters from the beginning. The storyline developed into many unexpected twists and it was impossible for me to put the book down after I started reading. I shall not reveal too much of the story as it may spoil the fun for other readers but leave you to discover a unique love between two people. It is a very touching story that will lead you to think of its meaning for days after you read it. I especially enjoyed the punch lines and love poems in the story.
