For Love Ireland Judy Leslie
If you're looking for a good story with good plot, intrigue, and tangible characters, you should read For the Love of Ireland. Based in fact, this historical fiction novel brings to life the plight of the Irish in the late 1880's and those who fought for the freedom of Ireland in America and the British Isles; and, the lengths to which some people will go to get what they want.
The story and characters are well-developed. I felt as if I was there, right along-side Margaret Sullivan as she travels to Ireland and learns first-hand about the fight for Irish independence, the agendas of those behind the fight (both as a group - Clan na Gael - and as individuals), and how much her husband contributes to the cause. It's a real eye-opener for Margaret when she realizes her level of participation in the fight, the impact it has on others, and the law of unintended consequences.
The story is engrossing and moves quickly. You won't be skimming.
