Warrant for Love ebook

Warrant for Love ebook

Leeanne Curtis, her sister Nicky, and their friend Jade have one thing in common. They have rocky relationships with men. Lee is a pleaser, Nicky a shouter, and Jade a tough cookie, keeping men at arm's length, lest they break her heart.
Both Nicky and Jade, in spite of being the worst people to give advice, try to help Lee get rid of Richard, a smooth operator who has taken advantage of Lee's kind heart and depleted her bank account.
Hovering in the wings we have PC Paul Davis who has troubles of his own. After he arrests Lee for soliciting, Paul realizes his mistake, and although it's love at first sight for him, Lee wants no part of him. Paul's world is turned upside down as he tries to court Lee.
The easy folksy language used in this novel fits perfectly with the lives of the characters. Lee's son uses exactly the kind of lingo one would expect a teenager to use. In very few words we can glean that he wants to come across as macho but is really a very caring person.
Sheryl Browne works the relationships of all the characters in her novel skilfully. We are constantly exasperated and want to jump into the book to tell one character or another to smarten up and listen to the other person, to give them a chance. Bad timing, written into the book expertly, keeps the love situations of all three women at a frustration level, but Browne throws in a few surprises and resolves each of the relationships to bring the book to a satisfying close.

  1. Another amazing book by Sheryl Browne. I'd like to say this one is my favorite, though I suspect my favorite Sheryl Browne book is whichever one I've most recently finished.

Warrant for Love has three love stories wrapped up in one neat package. Lee, Nicky, and Jade are three friends who are willing to do anything for each other and God help any man who messes with one, because he will surely incur the wrath of all three. The story centers primarily around Lee, a single mother who is down on her luck financially and romantically. She meets Paul, a cop who has problems of his own. Nicky, a married mother of three, has troubles of her own - a teenage daughter intent of driving her nuts and a husband who has become emotionally distant. And, then there's Jade, a gorgeous, successful business woman, who guards her own heart as carefully as she watches over her friends.

The plot is complex and fast-paced as the story moves from the lead female characters to Paul and back again. As typical in a Sheryl Browne novel, there is tremendous character development, heartache, humor, and love. The characters (from the main characters to love interests to the children in their lives) are multifaceted and believable. I absolutely loved this book.

  2. Brilliant rom com with serious undertones. Follow the lives of three strong women, Leanne, Nicky and Jade, as they deal with the various men in and out of their lives. Sheryl Browne writes with fantastic realism and sharp, perfectly-pitched dialogue. Also told from the male point of view in the shape of hunky policeman Paul. Deals with adultery, foster care, marriage breakdown, teenage children and so much more! Purchase it!

  3. Warrant for Love - a rompy romcom! Frisky, funny and full of intrigues. This is another proof that you just cannot judge a genre because of one book you might have read eons ago. Sheryl's book is modern, fast, and full of new plot twists.
When I first read it (and Sheryl was still biting her nails waiting for my opinion), I utterly enjoyed this book and was not at all afraid to read it again to copy edit it and THAT does not always happen with books.

  5. Leanne Curtis is about as unlucky in love as one girl can get and her slime-ball boyfriend, Richard, leaves her standing alone in a bad part of town where she's picked up for solicitation. She's taken to the station by Officer Paul Davis who tends to follow Leanne's every move with his George Clooney eyes.

The story not only involves the romance of Leanne and Paul but also of Leanne's sister, Nicky, and their best friend, Jade. Nicky and Jade rescue Leanne from the police station after the charges are dropped and the three of them decide they'll fix Richard once and for all for not repaying Leanne the money she fronted him for his business.

All works out in the end for all three women, the men in their lives, and each other but there are some very interesting twists and turns in the story that will have you flipping pages right until the end.

This is one of Sheryl's best offerings. It is a bit racy - a little more explicit than her other two books, but well worth the read. She has developed as a writer and well on her way to many successes.
